1080p Wasted

In reference to a poll on Gizmodo.com, we have found out that many viewers are sitting too far away from their high definition TVs. Polls suggested that 60% of viewers were sitting more than six feet from their 1080p screens. And 43% were sitting more than eight feet from their screens. In both these cases, that would not be enough to get the full benefit of their TV set's resolution, specialists say.

Now this is some amazing news, there will be a BD-Live feature that will allow you to look up cast, filmographies, director, and other production details on new Blu-Ray discs. But, yes there is always a but, you will need a player with profile 1.3 and broadband connection. Sony executive calls it the first killer application for blu-ray. This will be enabled on new movie titles such as Angels & Demons, Easy Rider, Punch-Drunk Love, The Quick and the Dead,, and Sex, Lies and Videotape.

Toshiba to Support Blu-ray?

Toshiba may be thinking about moving to Blu-ray format since the complete demise of HD DVD. This news came wehn Toshiba Corporation President Atsutoshi Nishida said: "It makes no sense to decide not to enter the Blu-Ray market simply because we lost the DVD-format [sic] war. We cannot change the fact that we lost, but we would like to keep our options open." If this all goes through, which I definitely think it will, their product would be a DVD recorder incorporating Blu-ray. This is very interesting electronic news!

Sharp Five Color LCD

The TV company Sharp has just released some great news on their LCD TVs. Sharp will be reproducing the real surface colors that humans are capable of perceiving for their new LCD TVs. They have discovered this by using multi-primary-color technology based on five filter structure that adds C (cyan) and Y (yellow) to the video world's three existing primary colors, red, green, and blue. This helps reproduce more than 99 percent of real surface colors. Really can't wait to see what these new LCD TVs will look like.

Netflix Search Improved

A team of experts have improved the search function for Netflix. If you're like me, I appreciate having a better search box to find my favorite movies. It said these experts have improved Netflix search accuracy by 10.05 percent. In return, Netflix is about to thank them by paying them a million bucks. Project Natal for the Xbox 360

It's time to upgrade your receivers and home theater speakers boys and girls. Microsoft plans to release a whole new type of gaming for the Xbox 360. It's called project natal, one main thing about it is you don't need a controller anymore. You can play with just your hands, legs, and even your whole body motion. It's completely wild man, I'm starting to save up money for it already. I expect this to conquer the other consoles. I just hope it's more accurate unlike the stupid Wii. The Wii is for kids, plain and simple. A good home theater receiver will really help bring out the sound and video of this new mod for the Xbox 360. So excited!

End of Analog Television

A few Fridays ago, if you were still using analog TV you probably noticed that the signal went out. According to CNET, about 2.8 million lost their analog signal. I bet a lot of people who live out in cabins out in the wildlife are tremendously pissed right now. I guess the only thing they can do now is switch to satellite, total bummer!

Land Rover S1 Phone

Land Rover S1 phone is the toughest phone on the planet. It can stand a person jumping on it, being run over by a Land Rover, and being tossed out of a second floor window. It's one tough phone that's for sure. If you're looking for some tech specs, the phone has 1500 hours of battery and a 2 mega pixel camera. Nothing really impressive on the specs side, but being able to withstand a whole weight of a car is impressive in itself. The Land Rover S1 is one cool phone!

Blu-Ray Switch

Critics say that 40% of the population still haven't switched over to blu-ray. Many critics have wondered why since blu-ray players are now under $200. I can tell them one good reason why, because of the horrible economy we are in right now. People just can't see spending the money for blu ray player when they can get a regular dvd player and dvd discs for dirt cheap right now. We will see in the next 5 years how many people will make the conversion, I'm still trying to. Right now my Xbox 360 supports 1080p, so it's not going to be a real huge jump.

Optimus Prime Speakers

The G1 optimus prime head with built in usb powered speakers is pretty cool, but rather cheap for $50. Kind of cool to have for your laptop or mp3 player, I don't think I'll be paying $50 for it though. There doesn't look like a whole lot of transforming going on, nice drop to the ground and I can see plastic parts going everywhere.

Levitating Projector

We add some crazy posts from time to time home theater related, but this one definitely takes the cake. This is the first levitating projector. Yes you heard right, the ball part of the projector actually throws the image up on the wall, which makes it a lot more versatile than a normal projector. On a normal projector you have to fool around with screws on the bottom or tools on the projector to stead the picture on a wall. Not this innovative electronic, just a click of a button and you are set. It actually throws multiple images up on the wall too, this would be perfect for multiplayer action on the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Only negative part is it is just a concept, not sold in stores just yet. If it was, I can't imagine it being very cheap that's for sure!
